Often friends will tell me they envy the lifestyle cruise ship work offers. I know I am partially to blame because most of the time I share photos and stories of all the good stuff. Today is no exception. Amidst all the chaos, boredom, loneliness and over-stimulation of living on a cruise ship, once in a while there are what I like to call "peak moments," in which you simply have to stop and remind yourself, 'Holy $h!t! I'm being PAID right now-to see this!"
I would like to point out however, that unlike these lovely photos, the current weather outside the coffeehouse in Halifax, where I sit and blog, is 45F and pissing rain. These pics were taken last week as our ship cleared the Confederation Bridge after leaving Charlottetown, PEI, en route to the Gulf of St. Lawrence and the St. Lawrence River.
The Confederation Bridge joins the eastern Canadian provinces of Prince Edward Island and New Brunswick. The curved, 8 mile long bridge is the longest in the world crossing ice-covered water, and a decade after its construction, it endures as one of Canada’s top engineering achievements of the twentieth century. After a rather dreary and overcast day, the clouds parted ever so slightly as we began our approach to the bridge, creating iridescent slivers of light on the water.
