Embarkation day is my one and only day to sleep in, as I don’t start work until noon. When I woke up this morning I hit the ground running! Montreal is in the throws of its annual Jazz Festival, held this year from June 25th until July 4th. The ‘Royals’ also happen to be in town in celebration of Canada Day (July 1st). It’s 72°F and sunny - Montreal’s Old Town is festive and vibrant, packed with tourists and locals taking in the carefree ambience of a long summer weekend. I can play until 11:45, when I head back to the ship to don a uniform and welcome the newly embarking guest…unless I go AWOL!!!
Alas, I’m scheduled to disembark in two short weeks. I guess I can hold on until then. In the mean time I captured the day with a few fun pics: The Notre Dame Cathedral, where Celine Dion got married, Place Jacques Cartier – the famous pedestrian zone where commerce, gastronomy and entertainment intersect, as well as Old Montreal’s fabulous waterfront area which, in addition to other wonderful things, is host to the resident company of Cirque du Soleil.
